Brasília (nation’s capital) – located deep in the country’s interior, the city was founded in 1960 to be the seat for the republic power in Brazil. It’s no accident that many of the government buildings have a futuristic design – their designer was famed Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. Citizens from all regions moved to the federal capital in search of new opportunities (from white-collar bureaucrats to the working poor). The nightlife in Brasília is a reflection of the city’s diversity. It is possible to enjoy sounds from the country’s Northeast (such as forró) along with reggae, blues and jazz.
